BioNicholarin is a fictional character from the online RPG Harper's Tale MOO.
Nicholarin’s profile in brief is that he lived with his mother, Clovinia, until the age of about fourteen, at which time he moved to Ista Hold at the insistence of his father, the new Lord Holder, Windsrgryp. Nick has two half-sisters by his father’s wife, Abrienna; Windrienna and Abriwind. At the age of fifteen, he met his first fiancée, Erarei, with whom he struggled through a convoluted long-distance relationship for several turns until, when he was twenty, she broke it off, choosing instead to live a nomadic life. (Hey, I’m not making this up. It happened.)
A catalyst of this decision was Nick’s formal acceptance of the Ista Hold birthright, on the condition that he be allowed to marry who he wished and not take up official duties until the age of eighteen. During the intervening time, he traveled to Southern for several months taking only himself and his runner with the intent of exploring some of the polar region.
Despite the ultimatum implied by his fiancée, Nick resolved to carry through with his promise to his father and Ista Hold, and remain the official heir, even though it ended his relationship with Erarei. At the age of eighteen he undertook the training and duties appropriate to a Lord Holder’s heir, and is continuing to live at Ista Hold and work toward the knowledge necessary to accept his duties at his father’s concession.
During the time that his relationship with Erarei ended, Nicholarin met a Seacraft Journeyman named Keliah with whom he quickly fell in love. They maintained a relationship for several months until they were at sea in her skiff and a sudden storm blew up. Nick was washed overboard and Keliah suffered a head wound before also being washed over. Nicholarin was found the next day by an Ista Weyr rider, but though the search for Keliah lasted for several weeks, she was never found.
Nick has continued in his duties as Lord Holder and talk of an arranged marriage is starting to surface.
